The San Fernando Valley Cello Ensemble was founded in 2006 by cellist and teacher Rachael Lonergan . She was given the idea from a student who wanted to not only perform community service, but also to do something that involved her cello.  We made contact with Jewish Home for the Aging at Eisenberg Village for our first official outreach program and the SFVCE was born.

Every year students, who's ages range from 4 to 18, prepare 12 - 15 new pieces to perform at several different locations. For many years

members were also invited to perform a solo with pianist Anita Swearengin.

We are always interested in sharing our love of music, especially cello, with others in the community. We have now performed at various retirement homes, libraries, hospitals, and an annual collaboration with the San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus.

Aside from providing an outlet for the students involved to express themselves through their music, we also wish to be able to give the gift of music to those around us who may not

otherwise have the chance to hear a large cello ensemble.  After all, it is not often you get to hear so many cellists playing all together!   The students all look forward to our performances and we are excited that there are many more opportunities for these types of performances in the future.
